It's the whole Michael McDonald thing... women (whom I suspect buy 99.9% of Christian music) want to hear that breathy man voice.

I keep waiting for the day someone puts "Song of Solomon" to music and then see how many Christian book stores carry it. Now, there's a test of faith, dontcha know!

Yes I agree...I personally don't like it either. There are a few (non breathy whisper types) that I like, and Ethan and Ryan are great because they also fall into the non breathy whisper category. I think that many "non-Christian" songs about God cause me to think way more about Him then many "Christian" songs. Just my opinion!

Toney - I used to work with a professor from Minnesota who always wore mittens in the winter. He had leather ones with sherpa lining for when it was really cold. He also had ones that were gloves without fingertips, with a fold-over "hatch" that was a mitten top (kind of the best of both worlds--although you probably wouldn't like them since you still have to wriggle your fingers in the glove part). He indicated that men do wear mittens up there, but your wife may know better.

Most of whatever is played on Christian radio is a small sliver of Christian music (a kind of mediocre sliver, but to each his own). There's a ton more, but you just have to search for it, just kind of like the general market.

I would agree with you on blandness of most Christian music. However, what gets me the when I turn on Christian radio is all the talking. About nothing. That's not funny. But they think it is!

Ralph, I know a lot of people that might be called as liberal left wingers that radically love Jesus and are doing his work. Sometimes Christ's followers defy our classifications. Sometimes His students don't fit in the current conservative evangelical box...thankfully.

Oh my God that was a great article. I'm in the unfortunate 92% group that's lost his wife to Edward. If only we watched LOST! Damnit! You think the books are bad DON'T EVER LET HER FIND FAN FICTION. My wife is a year into it and there's no letting up. We're trying to have a baby and I thought maybe that would pull her away but after reading your article I see there's no hope even when children are in the mix. Sigh

Case in point. Why politely disagree when you can sling accusations and degrade a person all at the same time. So much more "Christlike".

If our allegiance is to the U.S.A., then we're probably within our "right" to say whatever we wish. However, if our allegiance is to Christ, then our words matter.
